Crash kills tow truck driver on the job

According to a media release from the Alberta RCMP, the tow truck and a tractor-trailer had both been travelling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway when the tow truck struck the rear of the tractor-trailer. The collision set both vehicles on on fire, and the 44-year old driver died on the scene.

New towing by-law sees 41 tow truck companies and drivers charged

A new by-law, with a fine of up to $390 for the driver or company, states a tow truck cannot be within 200 metres of a collision scene without permission from either police or someone that is involved in the collision.
