Tower prevents van from leaving crash scene

Barrie, Ontario — August 21, 2012 — Hit-and-run collisions are all too common and very often it takes a serious investigation to bring the miscreant to justice. We’re pleased to report that wasn’t the case in Barrie, Ont. recently, thanks to the actions of a quick thinking tow truck driver.

The driver of a van allegedly tried to leave the scene of an accident with a pick-up truck near the intersection of Anne and Tiffin streets. A local tow truck driver witnessed the collision and started to follow the van. He later trapped it at the intersection of Tiffen Street and Ferndale Drive.

The driver of the van was charged with drunk driving and failing to stop at a crash scene.
