Colwood, British Columbia — April 1 — Faulty brakes led a local tower and passenger to jump from a moving flatbed tow truck before it nosedived into a nearby creek last month. The Colwood area tow operator told CTV News he was unable to stop his truck on the night of March 2, first running a stop sign at Latoria Road and Wishard Road before crashing into Latoria Creek. Both men exited before the vehicle hit the water. According to the report, the men sustained minor injuries. The tow truck and the van it had been hauling, however, were significantly damaged from the impact of the crash. RCMP say the incident appears to be a result of mechanical failure, but had also looked into whether alcohol was involved.
