BC Ferries vehicle requires a tow, sets on fire

Vancouver, British Columbia — April 2, 2015 — A Gibsons tow truck driver was tending to a B.C. Ferry Services vehicle when it spontaneously went up in flames earlier this week. According to the Coast Reporter, the commercial vehicle broke down the afternoon of March 30 on Gibsons Way near the Blackfish Pub. A responding tow operator was servicing the vehicle when a small fire broke out and quickly got out of hand. Fire Chief Bob Stevens told the Reporter that the vehicle was fully engulfed when the Gibsons fire department arrived. Sunshine Coast RCMP controlled surrounding traffic as firefighters worked to put out the flames. While the vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the incident, no injuries were reported.
