Woodstock recovery requires two wreckers

Woodstock, Ontario — August 12, 2015 — It took two heavy-duty tow trucks to remove a tractor trailer carrying a 70,000-pound load from a ditch in Woodstock, Ontario last week.

The Woodstock Sentinel Review reports that the tractor trailer veered off the road the morning of August 5 before landing in the ditch at Highway 401 eastbound off ramp at Highway 2. The vehicle was transporting car parts.

Oxford OPP arrived on the scene at approximately 7 a.m., joined by the Woodstock City Fire department and Oxford County EMS. No injuries were reported. Two Spicers Towing trucks were dispatched.

The off ramp remained closed while tow operators worked to recover the transport. As a result, traffic on the 401 was backed up for around five hours.

Police have charged the 54-year-old tractor trailer’s driver, Aziz AL Mousawi of Windsor, Ontario, with careless driving.
