Belleville, Ontario — June 10, 2015 — The Tweed-Hungerford Agricultural Society will be holding its second annual Touch-a-Truck event this weekend in Tweed, Ontario.
The fundraising initiative touches down on the Tweed-Hungerford Fairgrounds on June 14, offering children of all ages a unique and interactive experience with a variety of trucks, rescue vehicles and a race car on display, Inside Belleville reports.
“The [vehicle] doors are open and they do sit in the driver’s seat,” society member and event curator Shawna Raschotte said in the report. “Like the tow truck last year for example; they brought a four-wheeler and they showed the kids how they would load that on, and they let the kids push the lever up and down to see how it works. With the police car and the fire truck they run the sirens.”
Raschotte says the community’s inaugural Touch-a-Truck hosted a tally of nineteen trucks, which is around the number she expects to see at this year’s instalment, which is set to include a flat-bed wrecker and BV206 provided by 8 Wing Trenton.
In addition to exploring an array of displayed vehicles, event-goers can also expect an on-site canteen and face painting provided by local artist Linda Myrie.
Touch-A-Truck is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Tweed-Hungerford Community Centre parking lot, rain or shine. The $2 admission supports the ongoing efforts of the Tweed-Hungerford Agricultural Society, and includes a chance to win door prizes provided by over 20 community-rooted businesses.
