Toronto police seek information on tow truck theft

Toronto, Ontario — October 19, 2017 — The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance locating a woman who is alleged to have stolen a tow truck.

It is believed that on the morning of Monday October 16 at 9:30am, a tow truck operator was rendering assistance in the parking lot of Shoppers Drug Mart at the Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East area of Toronto when the woman got into, and stole, the tow truck.

As the woman was fleeing the parking lot, she collided with a car travelling westbound on Lawrence Avenue East.

The tow truck has since been recovered, however it is further alleged that a cellphone in the truck was taken.

The woman is described as being in her 30s, between 5ft 8 inches and 5ft 10 inches, with a medium build. Toronto Police has released security images in the hope a member of the public will come forward with information.
