Miller showcases new Rolling Rotator at Florida Tow Show

By Andrew Ardizzi

Orlando, Florida — April 14, 2014 — Miller unveiled its new Century Model 1140R 50 ton Rolling Rotator at the 2014 Florida Tow Show.

The event, which ran from April 10-13 inside the Hilton Hills Orlando Lake Buena Vista, featured the new rotator, which comes complete with a rolling boom that allows the operator to move it back and forth using a low friction roller system.

Canadian Towing Equipment’s Harold Markle was on hand at the show and feels the new truck means great things for the towing industry.

“What it’s going to do is make it much easier to operate,” says Markle. “The trucks have been developed to have more functionality than ever before, allowing you to use the truck to its fullest potential.”

Markle says the Rolling Rotator’s boom is able to move back and forth with ease, featuring multi-operation controls that allow operators to utilize up to four or more of the Rotator’s functions compared to the traditional two. Controlled by two joysticks mounted on the inside of the rear tool compartment door, the panel is easy-to-use and access, coming down to waist level to ensure universal accessibility.

“The advantage of the joysticks is that you can do those multiple functions,” he says. “People were lined up and excited to have their chance to test out the control panel.

“What it’s going to do is make it much easier to operate the truck since trucks have become so advanced mechanically and have more functions,” he says, noting that the previous modes of operation limited what the truck could do. “These new controls have altogether increased the capabilities of the truck.”

Markle says the show itself was a pleasure to attend and he’s always happy to head down to Florida for what he considers the biggest towing industry event around.

“Florida has always been a nice place to visit. I’ve been going to the event for the last 30 years and I’m always to glad to catch up with old friends and you get to go chat with people from the industry in a more low key environment.
