Pennsylvania tower cleared of all charges

Uniontown, Pennsylvia — July 19, 2012 — A tower in Uniontown,Penn.has been cleared of all charges relating to an incident in June. Louis “Joby” Cantalamessa, owner of service station and towing company Joby’s Gulf, was accused of taking a client’s car without permission and selling it to a recycling yard.

Cantalamessa was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and fraudulent removal of vehicle and related charges. Uniontown District Judge Michael Metros dismissed all charges against Cantalamessa in a hearing earlier this week.

The charges stem from the tow job performed on Brittnie Victor’s 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse after the vehicle was involved in a collision. One of Cantalamessa’s tow trucks was used to haul the vehicle from the scene to his service station, where it was placed in storage.

Holbert Victor, who has worked for Cantalamessa for more than 30 years, testified in court that the vehicle’s owner told him to sell the totaled vehicle to cover the cost of towing and storage.  Cantalamessa said that the family claimed that they had not given him permission to take the car and reported it as stolen.
