Toronto, Ontario — Toronto police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a boy believed to have been involved in the murder of a GTA towing professional.
On May 14, 23-year-old Hashin Kinani, an operator the GTA’s towing sector, was hit by multiple bullets in an Etobicoke parking lot.
Officers found Kinani dead inside his tow truck near Panorama Court and Kipling Avenue at some time before 7:40 p.m. The crime, which was committed in daylight, was reported to Police who arrived on the scene minutes after gunshots had been heard.
The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, has been named by police despite being under 18 with special permission Ontario judge. Police are also actively searching for another male, who has not yet been identified. With the permission set to expire on Wednesday, May 20, Canadian Towing Professional is unable to publish information about the suspect, though the full police warrant can be seen at this link.
“The Toronto Police Service requests the public’s assistance locating a boy wanted in a homicide investigation,” wrote the City’s police in a news report. Judicial authorization has been obtained to identify a Young Person.”
Kinani is not the first towing professional in the GTA to have been shot in similar circumstances. In the past eighteen months, at least seven similar attacks have occurred, leaving three other towing professionals dead.
