Calgary, Alberta — A tow truck driver was taken to the hospital early morning on June 14 after being struck by a vehicle near Deerfoot City.
According to Global News, police said the tow truck driver had parked the truck in the 5700 blocks of southbound 11 Street N.E. around 6 a.m. to aid a driver who was having car trouble.
While working on the vehicle on the side of the road, the victim was struck by a passing car.
Paramedics then transported the victim to the Foothills Medical Centre in life-threatening condition.
Sgt. Colin Foster from the CPS traffic unit said the tow truck had its lights on, and the driver was wearing high-visibility gear when he was struck, according to Global News.
Police are investigating if driver impairment was a factor in the crash, and are asking anyone with information about the collision to call the Calgary Police Service’s non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
