Niagara Falls, Ontario — May 19, 2015 — The Niagara Regional Police (NRP) Services board is set to begin a public consultation process on improving the area’s vehicle-for-hire services.
Bullet News Niagara reports the process, beginning this June, aims to strike a balance between the needs and requirements of the public and tow/taxi services.
Taking place June 29 at the NRP headquarters in St. Catharines, Ontario, open forums with tow truck owners and operators are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Taxi company consultation sessions will be held 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Attendees’ perspectives concerning licensing classifications and any proposed bylaw changes will be under consideration for inclusion at the public meeting held this fall.
According to the report, regional council granted the police board the authority to govern and grant licenses to taxi and tow operators — a motion Fort Eerie town council was recently given the power to explore.
